The main goal of Acupuncture is to help the body restore itself to homeostasis.
Very fine, sterile needles are gently inserted into specific acupuncture points located all around the body. The Acupoints are found along a system of channels or meridians mapped out in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Acupuncture and acupressure stimulate Qi energy and restores internal balance in the body.
This therapy is commonly used to treat: fatigue, chronic pain, muscular/joint injuries, headaches, sinus pressure, insomnia, stress/anxiety, depression, hormone imbalances, infertility, menstrual pain, gastrointestinal issues and other ailments.
Acupuncture is often combined with other therapeutic modalities for optimal relief, such as massage, moxibustion, cupping and gua sha. During an Acupuncture treatment, each individual will be guided in diet and lifestyle that is most beneficial to one’s needs.
“The ancient Chinese understood that the human body has remarkable abilities to heal itself-and the role of the doctor was to maintain health and encourage healing from within.”
Moxibustion is a heat therapy using the herb “mugwort,” or moxa. This herbal medicine is ground and burned, and applied at acu-points; or at the tips of acupuncture needles. This ancient healing technique is intended to warm these regions and to stimulate better circulation of Qi. The dried herb is either rolled into a small cone shape and burned on the skin to release muscle tension, or rolled into small rice-grain pieces and burned on the skin to strengthen the organs of the body. It can also be burned on the tips of acupuncture needles or processed into a cigar-shaped pole with one end lit and then hovered over specific points on the body. It takes many forms and provides many functions, but is generally used with the intention of warming and nourishing the body through specific Acupuncture points.
Moxa therapy has the power to strengthen the body and relieve fatigue, soften muscle tension, regulate the menstrual cycle, regulate digestion, calm the mind… and many other beneficial functions. It can be a very powerful modality used during an Acupuncture session when necessary for the individuals needs for care.
“To have a renewed body, you must be willing to have new perceptions that give rise to new solutions.”
Therapeutic Massage is customized to the individuals needs. Combining the use of many different kinds of massage, such as deep tissue, Thai stretching and Acupressure following the ancient Chinese meridian system, you can experience treatment of a wide range of ailments. From simple relaxation to recovery from an injury, massage can provide deep relief. For those dealing with chronic pain, headaches, stiffness, digestive problems, depression or more, massage can greatly assist the healing process for you to feel a well balanced treatment of the body and mind.
